
Chinese firm wins Rwanda water contract
Rwanda’s Water and Sanitation Corporation has awarded the contract for the construction of the Kivu Belt Water Supply System (Phase I) to China Geo-Engineering Corporation.
The contract is worth Rwandan franc 11.2 billion (US$9.9 million). The contract duration period is 18 months.
The works include the construction of a water treatment plant with a capacity of 13,000m3/day, raw water intake, concrete tanks and pressure breakers, inspection chambers and water points, the supply and installation of 124km of pipes and the construction and installation of a pumping station.
The works will be executed in the Rutsiro and Karongi Districts in the Western Province.
