Bids invited for wastewater project in Ethiopia
The Addis Ababa Water and Sewerage Authority, Water & Sanitation Infrastructure Development Division invites bids for the design review, supply, and installation of electro-mechanical equipment, testing, and commissioning of the Koye Fetche wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Ethiopia.
This tender comprises plant design review, supply, and installation of electromechanical equipment for the following two wastewater treatment plants:
- Koye Fetche WWTP 1: A 9,260 m3/d Extended Aeration Activated Sludge (EAAS) plant
- Koye Fetche WWTP 2: A 10,976 m3/d Moving Bed Biological Reactor (MBBR) plant
The project's expected duration is 22 Months, including 6 months of operation and maintenance.
The contracts for the construction of the two WWTPs were awarded to a contractor in 2016. The scope of works included general provisions, civil works, and supply and Installation of the electro-mechanical works. Construction commenced in the 2016, however, the employer terminated the contracts in 2018 due to poor performance of the contractor.
At the time of termination, the contractor had executed 5% of the general provision, 73.4% of civil works and 0% of the supply and installation of electro-mechanical work for WWTP 1, and 2.85% of general provisions, 51% civil works, and 0% of the supply and installation of electro-mechanical equipment for WWTP 2. Therefore, the scope of this contract includes the design review and construction of the remaining civil works and plant supply and installation of the electro-mechanical works of the two WWTPs.
The World Bank is funding the project.
Contractors should have been in business for at least seven years and have delivered at least two contracts worth US$24 million.

Proposals must be physically delivered by 14h00 on 13 October 2023.
