Rwanda’s Rugerero Model Village Nears Completion
The residential complex in Rubavu District will accommodate 120 families.
Construction of the Rugerero IDP Model Village in the Rubavu District of Rwanda is almost complete, IGIHE reports. The residential complex will accommodate vulnerable residents from different parts of the district affected by recent flooding.
The Ministry of Defence Reserve Force is building the project, supervised by Gasabo 3D Design.
The housing complex is being developed in two phases. The first phase comprises three blocks (G+3) for 120 families. The second phase comprises infrastructure including roads, utilities, a childhood development centre, clinic, market, playground and public toilet.
Each house has its own water and electricity supply and bathroom. A tarmac road connecting the village to the Kigali-Rubavu highway is also under construction.
