Construction Starts On South Africa Business Park
The first phase of the Giba Business Estate will be completed in 2024.
Construction of the Giba Business Estate in Durban was launched on 16 August by South Africa’s Minister of Public Enterprises Pravin Gordhan.
The ZAR1.9 billion (US$100 million) Giba Business Estate comprises 220,000 square metres and is located within the eThekwini Municipality, along the N3 highway and adjacent to Westmead Industrial Estate.
It will feature 22 platformed sites of various sizes for sale to the light industrial, warehousing and logistics sectors.
The project is being developed by the local Sultex Investments and will be completed in two phases.
The first phase is due for completion in July 2024. Work has already begun on the infrastructure and platforms.
“This project will contribute to the financial health of the municipality as it will contribute over ZAR60 million [US$3.2 million] in rates revenue after three years of its commissioning,” said eThekwini Mayor Councillor Mxolisi Kaunda.
Giba Business Estate is part of a wider project called Giba Business Park, which includes tourism and conservation zones.
