117 Construction Professionals graduate from Nziza Training Academy Rwanda

The graduates included quantity surveyors, architects, engineers and fresh college graduates who received certification in various construction project software packages.

Nziza Training Academy is a skills development centre in Kigali, Rwanda, that trains construction industry professionals in the latest computer-aided design and management technologies for delivering construction projects. The academy was founded in 2018 by Alexandre Nzirorera, a Rwandan civil and construction engineer.

Students at Nziza Training Academy receive training on software packages in the fields of architecture design, structural and earthquakes engineering, bridge design and analysis, quantity surveying and construction project management.

The academy held its third certification ceremony on 4 April 2022, at the M Hotel in Kigali. At this year's graduation ceremony 53 professionals were certified in architectural design, 22 professionals were certified in digital quantity takeoff and construction management, 13 engineers were certified in structural and earthquakes engineering, and 29 engineers were certified in bridge engineering and analysis.

The keynote speaker at the certification ceremony was Eng. Papias Kazawadi, the President-Elect of the Federation of African Engineering Organizations. Eng. Kazawadi is also the Chairman of Star Construction, a construction contracting company based in Rwanda.

Speaking during the certification ceremony, Alexandre Nzirorera, the CEO of Nziza Training Academy, said "Nziza Training Academy has been initiated to assist the purpose of connecting the gap between what colleges and universities are teaching and the industry, between classical knowledge and practical skill".  "We do not just train people, we enable then to perform" he added.

In his keynote speech, Eng. Papias Kazawadi, the President-Elect of the President of Federation of African Engineering Organizations, said "learning is a process that never ends" and encouraged the graduates to keep improving their knowledge in order to stay relevant in their respective sectors and industries.

Also speaking during the ceremony, Pascal Gatabazi, the Chief Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Education in Rwanda, noted that Nziza Training Academy produces critical skills required in the labour market. He thanked the institution for its contribution towards the socio-economic transformation of Rwanda. Mr. Gatabazi represented the Minister of State for ICT and Technical Vocational Education and Training, Hon. Irere Claudette, at the event.
