MacSteel Foundation Solutions established in South Africa
South Africa's leading steel products company is set for expansion.
Macsteel has forayed into untapped construction markets in Africa with Macsteel Foundation Solutions. It aims to create a novel business model to drive growth for the company and create value for customers throughout Africa.
Macsteel Foundation Solutions has analysed South Africa’s economic conditions and focused on the importance of deriving maximum value with minimal resources. Their focus has shifted to investing in expertise, equipment, and stock to retain existing customers and attract new ones.
Alex Fernandes, Macsteel Foundation Solutions Business Development Specialist, said, “The foundation solutions we offer are steel-based construction and innovative lateral support services and products. With the incorporation of Foundation Solutions, Macsteel can now offer a basket of steel products and a full range of turn-key solutions to our customers, under one brand, delivered by one team.”
Macsteel Foundation Solutions provides sheet piles, often used for temporary or permanent wall structures to prevent floods, protect foundations from water damage, and support excavations for various structures.
Fernandes further stated that sheet piles are the first structure of choice to provide a lasting solution to costly construction and lateral support challenges in Africa. The extreme climatic conditions in Africa would create more demand for sheet piles, particularly to protect vulnerable communities and infrastructure.
Sheet piles are designed to interlock. They are installed sequentially along the excavation zone to form a temporary or permanent wall to retain earth, water, or filling material, which prevents work areas from collapsing.
