Kenya seeks consultants for four informal settlement projects

Kenya’s State Department for Housing and Urban Development is inviting consultants to express interest in undertaking physical planning, cadastral survey and detailed topographical survey of 40 selected informal settlements. The work has been divided into four clusters, with each cluster tendered separately.

Some of the services required include desk review of relevant planning policies and legal documents, preparation of local physical and land use development plans, surveying of plots and preparation of survey plans and preparation of detailed topographical survey for engineering designs.

The project is divided into four clusters as follows:

  • Cluster 1: 11 selected informal settlements in Embu and Laikipia Counties The call for expressions of interest can be viewed here
  • Cluster 2: 10 selected informal settlements in Baringo and Turkana Counties. The call for expressions of interest can be viewed here
  • Cluster 3: 8 selected informal settlements in Tana River County. The call for expressions of interest can be viewed here
  • Cluster 4: 11 selected informal settlements in Kirinyaga County. The call for expressions of interest can be viewed here

The assignment for each cluster is expected to take 12 months.

Interested parties should have urban/physical planning, land surveying, or related field as their core business and have at least 10 years of experience in similar projects.

The International Development Association and the World Bank are supporting the project.
